2nd
Annual FALL Art Walk in Port Aransas -PA ART
ABOUT
Art Center for the
Islands will PRESENT -PA
ART ABOUT on
Saturday -October 25th
from
4-7 pm.
There are Art Walks in several Texas cities, Harlingen,
Dallas, San Antonio, Abilene, Austin, Rockport, Port
Isabel and more. What they all have in common no matter
where is their intention. Texas commission on the Arts
states it succinctly on their website-
Art Walks
are encouraging local communities to learn more about
the positive impact of the arts. This
art walk is planned to encourage and promote art and
culture and let everyone know Port A is Port Arty!
Starting in Old Town and winding out HWY 361,this is a
self guided tour of these arty locations and you can
start your tour at any point and follow the map, which
will be available at all locations. This is a great
opportunity to get out and walk, bike, or take a cart,
and learn more about the art culture in this community.
These 12 different venues are all free and open to the
public, meet a variety of folks, mingle, have
refreshments at each location and meet others who share
a passion for art, or encourage a friend or neighbor to
come along. Hopefully future art walks will be held
twice a year in Spring & Fall and include even more art.
Potters on Cotter -413 E. Cotter
Ken
Barnett first came to Port A in ’91 to wind surf . Four
years ago he and wife Brenda bought Dr. Sharp’s old
office and began to think about opening a studio gallery
here. They have been professional potters for over 25
years, owning & operating Mississippi Mud Pottery. The
couple sold that business and moved here permanently in
May 2007.They invite you to this open house and
introduction to the new potters in town.

Debra Wilbanks Williams Studio-118 W. White
Debra, an award
winning Texas Artist, has lived in Port Aransas since
the late 1980’s. Her work has been shown in galleries,
group shows and the
McAllen International Museum. As
one of the original 13 artists of the K-Space Art
Studios, most of her later work was done on the third
floor of the historic Kress Building downtown Corpus
Christ. She has since moved to her “rustic” studio to be
closer to home. Be it serigraph, sculpture, painting or
found object art, her interest is color and texture. Her
eclectic studio is by appointment only, but she is
throwing open the doors for the “P. A. Art About”.
Popsicle Toes- 345 N. Alister
I think "Unique" would be
the key word for the partnership between Dana Pope, "The
Queen of Custom Fit Toe Rings", and Nancy Rasco Hyder,
"Most Fun Local Folk Artist". Nancy loves to create art
that really showcases her spirit and love of nature and
animals and Dana does all the talking to convince
customers they really need to buy it!!!
Host-Dana Pope
Larry Charles Studio- 604 E. Cotter
Larry’s medium is watercolor and his paintings reflect
his love of flowers, trees, gardens, the Gulf Coast, and
cooking with fresh ingredients. When asked where he’s
from, Larry replies, “Port Aransas, south of Texas, a
state of its own.” The artist belongs to the Art Center
for the Islands and the Rockport Center for the Arts .
He is a member of the Port Aransas Garden Club, KPAB,
and Port Aransas Preservation and Historical
Association. “The
